Why other striders make moves that matter.

In December 2021, her newborn daughter was rushed to NICU just 30 hours after birth, suffering seizures caused by a neonatal stroke in utero. Despite the terrifying start, her daughter is now a thriving, happy three-year-old.
She hopes her story helps shine a light on childhood stroke, which affects up to 120 babies in Australia each year.
Taking strides for a healthier future
After years of trying every diet, device, and quick fix, Bill knew he needed something different. Turning 60 and reflecting on a family history of stroke—including the loss of his father and a close relative’s stroke in 2023—he decided it was time to take control of his health.
Living with multiple disabilities and managing mental health challenges, Bill began small—walking short distances, one day at a time. By the end of Stride4Stroke 2024, he had covered 34km, lost weight, raised $530 and discovered a renewed sense of energy, wellbeing, and purpose.
One of Bill’s favourite moments during his walks was his “meditation bench”—a peaceful spot along his route where he would pause to breathe, reflect, and recharge.
“Some days, it would be easier to stay in bed. But I don’t let myself think about it. I just get ready and go,” Bill says.
Bill’s story is a powerful reminder that improving your health doesn't require perfection—just a place to start.
Will you join Bill this September and move for a future with fewer strokes?

No matter why you're moving, make moves that matter!

Why your help is important
In the next 11 minutes, someone, somewhere in Australia is going to have a stroke.
Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime.
It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.
And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.
By fundraising for Stride4Stroke you'll be helping to sustain vital programs and resources that Stroke Foundation provides, such as:
StrokeSafe Talks
Australia's Biggest
Blood Pressure Check
