I’m taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation!

Hi there, I'm taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation.

For those who don’t know, Logan had a stroke around 2 weeks before he was born. We found this out within 24 hours of him being born, as he had 2 seizures. He was in special care for a week. Two days after birth, he had an MRI confirming that a serious stroke on the left side of his brain had occurred. The effects of this were unknown at the time. So far he’s doing well, with Occupational therapy, physio, and speech therapy. However, we are lucky that it was caught so early and that he has had the early intervention needed to give him the best chance at thriving. Not everyone is so lucky. Logan is still non verbal, and does also have indicators that he is on the autism spectrum. The support we have in place is amazing, but there is so much more research and funding that needs to happen to help us learn more about stroke, and to provide resources for those in need.

In the next 11 minutes, someone, somewhere in Australia is going to have a stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.
