My Activity Tracking

My target 63 kms

This November, I’m taking part in Stroke Foundation’s Stride4Stroke to help prevent, treat and beat stroke!

I will be striding 63km over the course of the month; I know it doesn’t sound like much, but if you know me you know I am not the athletic type. If you see me running you should probably run too! Why 63km? Because it represents the age my Dad would be this year had he not been taken from us by such a horrible tragedy.

I am doing this not just to raise money for Stroke Foundation, but to raise awareness of the risks, the signs and the effects of stroke. And I’m doing it for Dad. Every November he would participate in Movember to raise money and awareness for men’s health. And since I can’t grow a mo (despite beauty salons being closed), I’m doing this for him!

I would love if you could donate to help me reach my goal, not just financially but to encourage me to get through the 63km.

In Australia, one stroke occurs every 9 minutes.

It is one of Australia's biggest killers, killing more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.

Stroke attacks the brain, the human control centre, changing lives in an instant. The impact of stroke can be devastating for the individual and the family. However, the impact of stroke can be prevented, with research indicating that around 80 percent of strokes are preventable.

Please support my Stride4Stroke challenge with a donation today.

Your donation will help the Stroke Foundation support those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery. Thank you.

Wow! It’s not even November yet.

Wow! I am blown away by the donations and support for Stroke Foundation - thank you everyone who has donated! I’ve upped my fundraising target and will probably increase it again.

I’ve been resting my body this week, don’t want to peak too early. Looking forward to hitting the pavement on Sunday!!

Dear Kate Well done. I am so sorry to hear that you lost your Dad to a stroke earlier this year. Thinking of you and your family. I too sadly lost my Dad at this young age of 63 to a heart attack, I can empathize particularly as he too was far too young to go. I think of him and miss him everyday. All the best with the fundraiser, it is such a good cause. You go girl!
