My target 50 kms

This November, I’m taking part in Stroke Foundation’s Stride4Stroke to help prevent, treat and beat stroke!

In Australia, one stroke occurs every 9 minutes.

It is one of Australia's biggest killers, killing more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.

Stroke attacks the brain, the human control centre, changing lives in an instant. The impact of stroke can be devastating for the individual and the family. However, the impact of stroke can be prevented, with research indicating that around 80 percent of strokes are preventable.

I have picked my Stride4Stroke activity goal and I’m ready to go!

Please support my Stride4Stroke challenge with a donation today.

Your donation will help the Stroke Foundation support those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery. Thank you.

Why Stride4Stroke!

Stroke is one of Australia’s biggest killers. More than 56,000 thousand strokes will be experienced this year, that is 1 stroke every 9 minutes in Australia.

The statistics are scary!

The Stroke Foundation provides support to people who have had a stroke and their families all around Australia, they also provide  support and resources for healthcare workers to help us provide care to our patients.

Every day I work with amazing patients who just days ago were living their lives like normal, going to work, walking, eating, talking, spending time with family, shopping, doing all the things we all do in a normal day. Now they are in a hospital bed learning to walk again and having to work to regain all that they have lost from having a stroke. It is exhausting, patients often say that after a stroke they just feel fatigued all the time. I have seen so many patients come through the ward and make amazing gains, the greatest privilege of working with stroke patients is when you see all the small and big gains that they make through their rehab journey and being able to be part of that with them and their family. These patients inspire me and show me that with hard work and determination you can achieve so much.

This November some of my colleagues and I will be taking part in the Stroke Foundation’s Stride4Stroke, my goal is to walk 50kms (outside of my work time) for the month of November. Money raised will go to the Stroke Foundation to help them continue to provide support to so many people on their stroke journey.
