This November, Dean and I will be taking part in Stroke Foundation’s Stride4Stroke to help prevent, treat and beat stroke!

In Australia, one stroke occurs every 9 minutes.

It is one of Australia's biggest killers, killing more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer. And research indicates that stroke can be preventable in up to 80% of cases.

This coming November, Dean and I will be taking part in the Stroke Foundation's 'Stride4Stroke' challenge and running in Training with Mates Stride4Stroke Team Run on the 21st November. Dean and I have committed to running a minimum of 50km each over the month of November. I personally despise running, but recognise the privilege I have that I can run and have two functioning legs. This is why I personally have chosen this challenge activity.

Stroke is something that is very real and apparent to both of us, having affected both close family and friends. The impact that stroke has on both the individual and loved ones can be devastating, and is not limited to the acute injury. Stroke effects are long term and are an ongoing battle for the individual, something not well understood by those not personally affected.

Donations will help the Stroke Foundation with not only supporting those affected by stroke right now, but will fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.
