My Activity Tracking

My target 168 kms

This November I’m taking part in Stroke Foundation’s Stride4Stroke to help prevent, treat and beat stroke!

In Australia a stroke occurs every 9 minutes. It’s one of Australia's biggest killers.

In Dec ’19 my Mum Linda suffered a severe stroke following complications with brain surgery. After a gruelling period of uncertainty she is thankfully still with us, however her life has been significantly impacted as she’s unable to communicate or move the right side of her body. She’s only 65 and had plenty of fun years ahead of her with family, friends and more adventures planned to travel the world.

Unfortunately this devasting situation has meant I’ve experienced first-hand the life altering impact and grief a stroke can cause.

Therefore in honour of my Mum and all other families touched by stroke, I’ve decided to fundraise and support Stride4Stroke during Nov.

I’ve picked a Stride4Stroke activity goal, aiming to complete running 150km over the course of the month - nearly a marathon a week – and will be coming from a very low fitness base for this type of gruelling distance!

I know we are in tough times at the moment but if you can spare a few dollars (all donations above $2 are tax deductible) please donate to my efforts at my Stride4Stroke page here: https://www.stride4stroke.org.au/fundraisers/dallasmcintosh/stride-4-stroke

Your donation will help the Stroke Foundation support those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

I’ll keep you updated on my progress during the month of Nov! Wish me luck I’m going to need it! ?

My Updates

Halfway update

A halfway update on my Stroke Foundation Stride4Stroke 150km running goal for the month of November. After easing into the first week (from a 0km base) I was able to reach 30km, putting valuable km’s on the pavement towards my goal. I pushed harder through the second week after visiting my Mum for the first time in 4months, knowing I had her support (even though she can’t communicate, but could see it in her eyes), and reached 48.5km’s - for a total of 78.5km so far! The knees are starting to feel it, but as long as I’m ticking over the km’s I know I’m supporting other families in the future who maybe impacted by the devastation of a stroke on loved ones. Thanks to all of the generous contributions made so far, it makes it easier knowing I have your support! #stride4stroke #strokefoundation #TeamStroke

Wish me luck

I’ll keep you updated on my progress during the month of Nov! Wish me luck I’m going to need it! ?
