Our team is taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation!

Almost four months ago, our lives were turned upside down, and our family learnt just how quickly life can change.

I can honestly say I never really understood how critical it was to know the signs and symptoms of a stroke- especially for people like myself who didn’t tick the ‘profile’ for a stroke, or how every single minute from the onset of symptoms to treatment can make the difference between a full recovery and permanent disability. 

Thanks to my incredible Hughie, who knew something was wrong and immediately phoned for help, and then to Jason, who recognised the signs and symptoms and acted immediately, I received life-saving treatment just 90 minutes after my symptoms began. Because of their quick actions, we’re incredibly grateful that my recovery has been so positive and are hopeful that life will feel normal again soon. 

So that’s why I’m taking part in Stride4Stroke this year—to help raise funds for stroke research and support, but most importantly to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of a stroke, especially for people who don’t fit the criteria we associate with a stroke. I’m hoping that sharing our experience helps even just one person recognise the signs of a stroke and seek help sooner.
