Hi there, I'm taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation to help create a future with fewer strokes.
In the next 11 minutes, someone, somewhere in Australia is going to have a stroke. That was me on the 10 August 2024, after over 6 months in hospital and rehab, I’m still recovering from home. I try really hard every day to regain full function in my right arm and leg, and hope that one day it will happen and I might be able to work again. When I didn’t move my leg for 11 weeks, it was difficult to imagine that I would ever walk and be able to participate in something like this, but here I am. I am determined to not let what happened to me when my brain bleed, define the rest of my life. I’ve got lots more living to do!
Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.
