I’m taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation!

Hi there, I'm taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

Did you know stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and there is one stroke every 19 minutes, even though more than 80% of strokes can be prevented?

Stroke doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime, even unborn babies. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. Even more distressing, around 600 Australian children experience stroke each year.

Your support can make a significant difference, and I kindly ask you to help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation. It only takes a minute, and any amount you can give, no matter how large or small, will go a long way in supporting Stroke Foundation's vision of a world free from disability and suffering caused by stroke.

With your generosity, the Stroke Foundation will be able to:

Prevent Stroke: By empowering a greater proportion of adult Australians to recognize the modifiable risk factors for stroke, we can increase their chances of preventing stroke and living healthier lives.

Save Lives: Your support will enable hospitals and healthcare providers across Australia to enhance their capabilities in stroke care and rehabilitation services, ultimately saving more lives.

Enhance Recovery: By reaching out to those affected by stroke, the Stroke Foundation ensures that more Australians can access reliable information, resources, and essential post-stroke support, promoting a better recovery journey for stroke survivors.

Your donation will directly contribute to these critical initiatives, bringing hope, assistance, and improved outcomes to stroke survivors and their families.

Thank you for your support. Your generosity means a lot to me.

My Updates

Day 30 , Launch day

Wowee what a day. The alarm went off at 2am , food down the gob and the camel pak locked and loaded . I was out to run with the aim of 100km and to try get last minute donations and people talking about the month. As the day went on and the km started flowing people started talking donations started flowing . I ended up doing another 2hours after I passed 100km to finish on 122km with over 20 donations for the day and finishing the month with over $2500. The support on the last day was unbelievable and the run achieved its purpose. Why was this guy running such a big number and why had he run so much for the previous 29 days ? To raise awareness and funds for the stroke foundation ! Boy we gave it everything !!

Day 29 , big storm ruins big plans

The day started with a 4 km dog walk and 7km run to get us to 11km by 530am. The plan was to run a half marathon straight after work but due to a lightning storm that had to be canned. An earlier bedtime awaits to launch into day 30 tomorrow !!!

Day 28 early bird gets the worm

Day 28 kicked off with a 3am alarm ! Straight into a 4km dog trot and a further 17km run. Finishing the half marathon by 530 then heading to work for the day. Sometimes you just have to make time to exercise

Day 27, the final Monday

Woke up pretty crook. Manage to get a half marathon done in the arvo but stopped a few times. Into the final week and ready to give it everything

Day 26 , first timers get it done.

Sundays run was great fun . It was attending runfest 2023 and running with a couple of great mates 2 of which completed their first half marathon. It was a massive turn out and a great day

Day 25 Last Saturday of the month

Todays run was an absolute cracker , two fellow bashers jacko and guru ( who completed his 25th half marathon in a row) we did a nice and easy 21.1km run with vibes at an absolute high

Day 24 Go big or go home

The day started with a 4km dog walk nice and early , straight into work paving 30 stairs with 30kg heavy pavers ( legs loved it) to round out a brutal week I punched out another marathon to try and get some Friday night donations. Weather was horrendous but sugar was the winner ( thanks energy drinks)

Day 23 Food poisoning.

Day started with a 1.5 hr dog walk in light rain. Followed by a brutal day of work , carrying 30kg pavers down and up 60 stairs cutting and laying them. After finishing a little bit earlier I laced up and decided to push out a marathon (4hrs) . 6 toilet stops during the run wasn’t ideal but it can’t all be smooth sailing 1 weeek to donate !

Day 22 Get it done

Stock standard day (for November) . 1hr gym session to start the day followed by work followed by a 22km run for day 22. Straight into an ice bath. 1 week to go tomorrow, ready to launch

Day 21 they still take 2 hours

The day started with a 1.5hr dog walk with the dogs surely pushing for some of the fittest in the neighbourhood now . Post work was a half marathon. Despite being 21 days in I still look like I’ve jumped in a pool most of the run

Day 20 Calm before the storm

After a massive weekend of move minutes it was nice to dial it back a bit. The morning started with a 1hr gym session followed by work then straight into a 24km run. Conditions were perfect for running not too hot and a wind behind me finally for the last 10km . 10 days to go !!!!

Day 19 Super Sunday

Biggest day so far ! 1 hour dog walk in the morning 4 hours of golf during the day Followed by a 2 hour run totalling over 7 hours of move minutes for the day !

Day 18 B2B

First ever back to back marathon . First 25km I was joined by The Bug All Nighter Holland and Guru The Streak (17 1/2 marathons) Patterson. The back 17km was challenging. A blue berry muffin and energy drink was just what the doctor ordered to get through the last 7km. Well and truely over half way as the $1000 raised is insight

Day 17 Calf cramps and howling southerlies

Day 17 kicked off with a 4km dog walk before work. Finished work a few hours early today so decided to go big and launch into a marathon. Last 6km were the hardest so far this month . Into a 40km southerly and calves cramping . We got it done and hopefully a few donations coming from onlookers in distress

Day 16 , over the peak

1.5hr dog walk in the morning before work followed by 9 holes of golf (2 hours) post work . Work has been extremely physical this week so it was good to get a somewhat easier day of exercise all of course while still getting move minutes .

Day 15 WHOOAAA WE’RE HALFWAY THERE

Halfway point and we are flying! Donations are over our goal for the halfway and same with the move minutes. Today was a 1hr gym session before work followed by a 22km run after work. Thank you to all donations so far

Day 14 another soaking

Started with a 1,5hr dog walk , followed by an extremely physical day at work. Wanted to just go home and rest but want to give this month my all so punched out 24km. A few patchy showers kept me cool. Thanks to everyone whose donated so far

Day 13 New bling

Monday started with a 1hr gym session. Upon arriving home from work I saw my stride4stroke package had arrived so I chucked the new singlet and bracelet on and pushed out my fastest half marathon this month . Just shy of 4000 move mins and on track for 7000 . Away we go !

Day 12 , Sunday pumpday

40mm dog walk to loosen the legs , followed by a 10km run . 18 holes of golf straight into 10km easy around the oval and finally a much needed ice bath to finish. 400min+ move day , hoping to see some donations come through the second half of the month . Let’s go ?

Day 11 post party fiesta

Went to Sydney for my nieces birthday. Post birthday straight into the running clothes . Got the marathon done despite starting the watch after 5km 47km day but strava will settle for 42km

Day 10 , Tripple threat

Huge day for day 10 , kick started with a 1hr dog walk before work , 18 holes of golf straight after work followed by a cracking 23km run ! 1/3 of the way down and still a bunch of money to raise Let’s go ???

Day 9 one big storm and an even bigger baby

Day 9 started with a 1.5hr dog walk at 4am before work . Post work a huge storm hit pushing back the post work run. Wombat is petrified of heavy rain so comfort over km today. We managed 10km before running out of time . We go again tomorrow ???

Day 8 Bitumen Bashers go bush

1hr gym pre work , post work a 23km (3hrs) trail run with two fellow bashers led by foggy and Joel ( on half marathon 8 in a row) great run ! Very scenic Another day down !

Day 7 Dogs dig Deep

Day started at 4am with a 1.5 hr dog walk , one of the longest they’ve been on!. The Pm session was a 22km run straight after work on a howling 30km easterly. One week down with plenty more move minutes to do and alot more money to raise

Day 6 rise and grind

1 hr gym session before work , 22km run straight after work then straight into dinner and recovery . We go again tomorrow

Rain rain go away , day 5

With heavy rain for most of the day , it finally somewhat cleared in the arvo . 42.3km run (first marathon of the month, followed by a walk with the dogs. Gonna be logging as many move minutes as possible to try inspire others to get moving or donate to a great cause

Day 4 Wet n’ Wild

Met up with some fellow bitumen bashers this morning . Weather was horrendous , absolutely bucketing down, puddles deep enough to cover your shoes but it’s all for a great cause so off we went ! 23.8km

Day 3 run, walk, run

Today we took on one of the central coasts most daring hills The Skillion! With nearly 40m elevation per rep we did the hill 34 times consecutively equaling 11km and 90mins. A 3km lunch break dog walk followed in the afternoon then an 8km run to round out the day Let’s do this ?

Day 2 Gym, Run, Golf

Today was a 1 hr gym session before work , a 13km run straight after work and a game of golf straight after the run. Ticking the moving minutes over with plenty of variety

Day 1

A 4km walk with the dogs before work and a 22km run straight after work . Here’s to raising some funds for a great cause !

Bondi to manly ultra

Myself and fellow bitumen basher Jeremy took to Sydney to start the campaign. Wearing our stride4stroke singlets we took on the 80km asked by many how they can donate and what the bitumen bashers were about. The ultra took just over 10 hours

So far I have helped Stroke Foundation deliver…

Advice and support from a health professional on StrokeLine

Stroke recovery packs to 3 survivors of stroke.

Training to a StrokeSafe volunteer to deliver community talks.

Funding to stroke researchers to find the next game-changer in stroke.
