My Activity Tracking

My target 60 kms

This November, I’m taking part in Stroke Foundation’s Stride4Stroke to help prevent, treat and beat stroke!

In Australia, one stroke occurs every 9 minutes. Unfortunately, last month, I was in the 9 minutes and suffered a stroke. A perfectly good day, watched my girls play their grand final, and went to dinner for my youngest daughter's birthday.

I was standing with my eldest daughter who is now an OT. With her training and recognizing the B.E.F.A.S.T. (Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, Time), she could tell I was having a stroke. A quick ambulance ride to hospital and was Thrombolysed. The universe must have been on my side, and I have made a full recovery. The fact is, you don't know when and where this can happen to you, the effect it has on you, and your immediate family.

It is one of Australia's biggest killers, killing more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.

Stroke attacks the brain, the human control centre, changing lives in an instant. The impact of stroke can be devastating for the individual and the family. However, the impact of stroke can be prevented, with research indicating that around 80 percent of strokes are preventable.

I have picked my Stride4Stroke activity goal and I’m ready to go!

Please support my Stride4Stroke challenge with a donation today.

Your donation will help the Stroke Foundation support those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

Any donation big or small will go to a great cause!

Thank you.
